Encounter and Understanding

Our publication on the occasion of the Institute’s anniversary in 2019

Celebrating 15 years since the establishment of our institute in October 2004 is reason enough to gratefully document the experiences and insights of our shared journey with various projects and publications and to critically reflect on what we have achieved so far.

It is no coincidence that we repeatedly raise fundamental hermeneutical questions regarding interreligious dialogue in our teaching and research as encounter and mutual understanding in different places in Europe. This publication is intended to give an account thereof.

We invite everyone to join us in our community of pathways and learning to talk with us about what is familiar in the foreign and what is foreign in the familiar – regardless of origin, culture, and religion.
